Weekend Writing Warriors!

I'm participating in the Weekend Writing Warriors mini hop again. The deal is to post 8 sentences from a writing project, published or unpublished. This week I'm offering a bit from my backlist. I give you Dreamscape.

First my 8, then details follow:

Killed by a blow to the back of the head. Which monster had done that? For some reason he could easily place the poker in Cathy’s hand. His murdering wife never liked Addy and often hinted at replacing her in the four short months they were married. His stomach clenched, they’d buried his dear Addy alive. Feeling absolutely wretched, he needed to feel Lanie’s arms around him. Despite his vow to stay clear of her in the waking world, Jason lay down and let her warmth seep into him. He whispered to her subconscious, “Dream of me sweetheart, I’m free to love you in that world.”

Setting the stage: At this point in the story, Lanie and her friend Lexie are cleaning out the old house's dirt-floor cellar. After removing a perplexing barricade of assorted junk, they discover a body. It would appear a murder had taken place at least 100 years before. While police on the scene speculate who the body belonged to, Jason the ghost knows.

What this book really is:Written in homage to Agatha Christie, Dreamscape is a haunting, a murder, a mystery, a time travel of sorts, and a love story that transcends time. Above all, this sensual tale is a reader's Easter egg hunt in the truest sense. Peppered throughout are hints suggesting a story behind the scenes. Will you find them all before it ends?

Here's the story

"At first, the story appears straightforward enough...Ghost falls in love with new owner of his home...kind of like the Ghost and Mrs. Muir...but soon, all those usual clichés are thrown out the window. And what you're expecting isn't what you get, and vice versa." "So thank you, Rose Anderson, for giving new life to old ideas!" "Dreamscape is catchy, well-written, and thoroughly enjoyable."
