Weekend Writing Warriors

It's Sunday and I'm participating in the Weekend Writing Warriors mini hop! The deal is to post 8 sentences from a writing project, published or unpublished.

This time I'm offering another small sampling from
Loving Leonardo - The Quest  ~ book 2 in an award-winning Victorian polyamorous romance written with an unusual touch of reader-interactive art history

First
my 8, then details follow:

The remainder of the afternoon was spent immersed in Parisian marvels, many of which occurred right on the street. We were treated to jugglers and musicians as well as the salacious advance of a rather large marionette dressed as an old-time cobbler. Under the guise of theater, and under the pretense of “looking at shoes,” the puppet master’s wooden man tried to lift the hem of any woman passing by. After lifting a hem high enough to display one hapless woman’s knees, he made a bid for my wife. The look Luca and I leveled him made him back away sheepishly. Apparently finding the prank more humorous than we, Ellie laughed good-naturedly and raised her own hem, but only enough to show the top-most buttons of her shoes. She told the wooden puppet in softly American-accented Français, “Keep your eyes on the shoes, my wooden shoemaker, or my escorts will see you made into matchsticks.”

Setting the stage: On the hunt for Leonardo da Vinci's clues, the trio head to Paris to the renown Louvre to see what the masterpieces there might hold. Their first night on the town, they take in some of the more curious Parisian attractions and encounter a cheeky marionette.
