Weekend Writing Warriors

I'm participating in the Weekend Writing Warriors mini hop again. The deal is to post 8 sentences from a writing project, published or unpublished. This time I'm offering a creepy bit from Enchanted Skye.

First my 8, then details follow:
He rarely made mistakes in his life, and could count them all on one hand. Not paying attention to Mary Margaret was a mistake. How was he supposed to know she’d try to turn the love of his life against him? But once he’d realized she stood between him and Jenna, all he cared about was having her gone. It took a little longer than he thought it would, tough old cow, and there was a point when he thought the doctor might figure things out. But Carl rarely made mistakes. Old people just died. No one would care or suspect more than old age was the cause.

Setting the scene:Jenna's dangerous stalker ex-boyfriend has recently learned Jenna is somewhere on the Isle of Skye. A sociopath if ever there was, Carl recalls how difficult it was to rid himself of Jenna's grandmother and makes plans to go to Skye.

 Here's the story

  1. Ooh, he's a creepy, nasty man! Hate, hate, hate him from just those eight. Nice eight.

  2. Wow, that was intense and creepy. He's so calm about what he's done! An excellent, if chilling, excerpt!

  3. Oh my, Carl certainly sounds dangerous. Very good set up for a tense story.

  4. This sounds so dangerous! Carl is kind of creepy, did he really kill the grand-mother?
