Weekend Writing Warriors

It's Sunday and time for the Weekend Writing Warriors mini hop! Participants post 8 sentences from a writing project, either published or unpublished.
Today I'm offering another small sampling from The Witchy Wolf and the Wendigo (Eluwilussit - Book 2 in the saga)

First my 8, then details after:

Ash assumed the body of an eagle and followed. A moment later they landed atop a high overlook in an ancient oak grove as white as everything else in the spirit world. Below, a wide crystal-clear river stretched as far as his eyes could see. The sight filled his heart and for the first time he understood. The Manitou was the water, and the water was the Manitou. Shifting into his own body, Ash turned to Nawkaw. “I have only ever heard Sky Father’s voice. I have never seen Him before this moment.”

Setting the stage:
Here Ash is summoned to the spirit world by his old mentor Nawkaw. When Ash sees the sparkling water for the first time, he realizes it holds the consciousness of the Sky Father (God)
