Today I'm
offering another small sampling The Witchy Wolf and the Wendigo (Book 1 in the saga ~ Ashkewhetasu)

Nawkaw’s death was unfortunate, but necessary. There had been no other way to make sure the young protégé never learned the capabilities of the bird stone. Eli frowned inwardly. Had he only known the ramifications of taking the old Medicine Man’s life. He had not imagined the Sky Father would bar him from the White Spirit World. No matter how he fasted and thirsted, no matter his lack of sleep, or the depth of the pain he inflicted upon himself, he could only stand in the wasteland of the Red World. Unable to pass through the sparkling barrier into the world of white light and spirit, he was denied access to that which all the medicine men had had, since the beginning of time. Eli rolled the stylized stone bird over in his hand. No, Ashkewheteasu had never been worthy of such a gift.
What just happened:
Ashkewheteasu and Eli (Eluwilussit) trained for the shaman's path together, but Eli's jealousy for the younger initiate could not be contained. After Eli murders their teacher, he discoveres his crime had unexpected results -- he is denied access to the Sky Father's (God) White World (heaven), and he's desperate to go there to plead his case. The fact Eli once had a foot in the spirit world has made him immortal. When he discovers Ash too still lives, his old hatred is renewed.
